Kipling Family Support: Tips & Resources

Kindergarten and 1st grade students don’t bring Chromebooks home, but here are some simple ways you can use technology to connect with them in positive ways:

• Ask your child to share a Seesaw post at the dinner and talk about what they learned.
• Show your child what you saw on Seesaw and share your comments.
• Model healthy tech use by showing how you use devices at home.
• Help your child practice basic iPad skills (plugging in headphones, tapping, swiping, closing apps) to build independence with their school iPad.

Expectations

• Chromebooks should be charged nightly
• Chromebooks can be used for 10 minutes per night
• Chromebook screens and keyboards should be cleaned monthly
• If your child has a problem with their Chromebook, they should let their teacher know ASAP

• IXL-recommended reading skills
• ST Math
• Amplify Math Fact Fluency
• IXL recommended math skills

• Keep the Chromebook in a common area where you can monitor usage
• Limit usage to only district apps (Amplify, IXL, ST Math, EPIC, etc.) for extra skills practice/homework
